How to Practice the Guitar Effectiveley
Music instructors tell you how to improve, but ultimately you are the one who determines the level to which you enhance your own skills. The best ways to improve your guitar abilities include: reasoning, practicing, and analyzing.
Reasoning
What goals do you want to achieve? Maybe you want to learn a challenging song or learn more chords. You must decide what your objectives are and work on them. They must be challenging enough, yet reachable. Setting goals allows you to work harder because you want to accomplish your aspirations.
Practicing
You have heard several times that practice makes perfect. Whether learning any new skill, playing the guitar is no different. When you practice try to have a consistent practicing time. If possible it is best to practice every day, even if one day you just play a few chords. Start your practices by warming up with scales. After that your fingers will be warmed up, so you can start playing a challenging song. Go at your own pace and remember that it is better to play it slow than to be playing it incorrectly. If you get frustrated with a song, it is okay to stop playing that song. Instead of putting your guitar away at this point, play an easier song that you know that you can play well. This will give you a reminder that you learned this song and over time will learn the other ones.
Analyzing
The final step in enhancing your guitar skills is analyzing where you are. Think about what you did well, what needs improvement. You may also evaluate whether you were able to stay focused during your practices. You can stay focused by doing several things:
1-Don’t practice in front of the television.
2-Try not to answer the phone while practicing.
3-Try to practice in a room by yourself...solitude is key.
4–Try not to practice while under stress.
5-Don’t daydream.
6-Don’t stray away from practice by playing your instrument.
By noticing any of these distractions you can work on being able to stay focused on practicing the guitar.
